In January of 1988, Jim Bowers and family opened Bowers Funeral Home with a compassionate desire to assist families in Meigs County and surrounding area in helping them through the most difficult time in their lives…. The loss of a loved one. Jim and Barbara had a passion for helping people through these difficult times. They built not only an outstanding staff, but a confidence in the people they served that Bowers Funeral Home was not only there to be the community funeral home, but to be a community friend as well.
Over three decades have passed, and in that time, they served many families. Death is something that we all experience. Jim lost his high school love during that time, Barbara. While she is greatly missed, the passion that she shared with her husband and son to care for grieving families continued at Bowers Funeral Home.
Jim Bowers retired in August of 2020 and turned over the operations of the Funeral Home to the new owner and manager, James A. Staton and his family who hope to continue to serve the families of Meigs County and surrounding areas by providing compassionate service to every family who walks through our doors as Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services for many years to come.
