Wayne Ray Brown, age 83, of Decatur, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, peacefully at his residence.
Wayne was the son of the late John Franklin and Lula Jane Cunningham Brown. Wayne served as a deacon at Bethsadia Baptist Church. Wayne was a truck driver for many years, having worked at McKee Foods, First Fleet, and retired from Magic Chef with 45 years of service. After retirement, Wayne worked at Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Carolyn Faye Brown; brothers, Troy, Bob, Bill, and Lee Brown; sister, Flora Heifner.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Tony) Charles; daughter-in-love, Becky (Velt) Harris; brother, Donald Brown; grandchildren, Ryan (Kala) Aikman, Colby (CJ) Oliver, Tiffany (Cody) McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Chloe Oliver, Molly Ann and Cooper Aikman, and Auggie McKenzie.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Travis Shaver, the Rev. Gary Rolen, and the Rev. Jimmy Lewis officiating.
Interment to be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the Shiloh Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Travis Shaver, James Staton, Curtis Walden, Eddie Walden, Glenn Standridge, Gary Rolen, and Dewayne Gibson.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude.
