Phyllis Hutsell Jarvis, age 84, a resident of Chattanooga and a native of Meigs County, passed away on August 8, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was a daughter of the late Fred H. and Bonnie Norton Hutsell. She was a member of the Brainerd Baptist Church for 62 years, she retired from Huffaker and Associates with 20 years of service and was a member of the Insurance Women of Chattanooga, but her greatest joy was in making applesauce and strawberry preserves for her beloved great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sister: Carol Hutsell Davis.
She is survived by her loving husband of almost 68 years: Donald “Don” Jarvis of Chattanooga; children: Terrie Jarvis Stark of Davidson, NC and Ron Jarvis (Cindy) of Cookeville, TN; brothers: Jimmy Hutsell of Apopka, FL and Anderson “Binky” Hutsell of Decatur; grandchildren: Rob Stark (Kristen), Pat Stark (Krissy) and Adam Jarvis (Alex); great-grandchildren: Landon and Josh Stark, Maddy and James Stark, and Blythe Jarvis; sister-in-law: Betty Jarvis; several nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 in the chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with Chaplin Kevin Becker officiating.
The family will receive friends at Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM prior to the memorial service.
The family is grateful for the services of Hearth Hospice, with special thanks to Misty, Avis, Kevin, Lexi, and Stephanie. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Hearth Hospice, 513 Georgia Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37403.
