Wilma Judd Copeland passed away at her home on September 29, 2016. God's timing was perfect, as she had expressed her desire to be at home when the time came and God granted her request.
Although Wilma had no children of her own, she "mothered" a lot of people over the years. She was known for her kind, generous spirit and an intense desire to help others. Wilma was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she accepted Jesus as her Savior at an early age and was baptized in McKenzie Creek by Rev. Ben McKenzie. She taught a Sunday School class and helped with Christmas programs at the church.
Wilma was born January 11, 1929 to late John H. Judd and Jannira Grubb Judd. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Copeland; brothers, Gene, Wesley, Julian, Jake, Dempsey and Delano; one sister, Millie Judd Swafford.
She is survived by one brother, Stanley (Wanda) Judd; sister-in-law, Esther Altizer, several cousins and special nieces and nephews.
Our military and veterans were of utmost importance to Wilma and she was very active with the local AmVets and the Women's Auxillary. She never passed up a chance to hug a veteran!
A special thank you to Wilma's caregivers, Alethia Leamon, Lois Mimbs, Sherry Goforth, Brenda Standifer, also Hospice of Chattanooga and Marvin Guffey, thank you for being a wonderful friend.
Funeral service will be 2 pm, Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016 in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hugh Bryan, Rev. Mike King and Rev. Max Redman officiating. Interment will follow in the Beta Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday, from 12 to 2 pm prior to the service at Bowers Funeral Home.
