Willie Mae Kennedy

Willie Mae Kennedy, age 86, of Decatur, TN went to be with the Lord on August 1, 2011 at the Bookewood Nursing Center. A lifelong native of Meigs County, and the daughter of the late DW (Dart) and Millie (Miller) Wilson, she was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Kennedy and Vic Skorno, sons Dale Kennedy and Charles Kennedy; brother, Buddy Wilson,; sisters, Ollie Howard, Sally Goforth, Sarah Jane Porter, Belle Brown; grandsons, Keith Kennedy and Jason Vaughn. She was of the Baptist Faith and attended Union Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth (Vaughn) Maddox and husband Charles of Athens, TN, Loretta Bivens of Etowah, grandson Mark Kennedy and wife Kim of Decatur; sisters, Pauline Jarvis, Mary Layman, Bertha Haynes of Decatur and Sue Sewell of Chattanooga; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Farrell Jarvis, Frank Jarvis, Eddie ODaniel, Robert Howard, Dean Goforth and Jimmy Lawson. Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m., Thursday August 4, 2011 in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Max Redman officiating. Internment will be at Decatur Cemetery , Friday, August 5, 2011 at 1 p.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 4, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the nursing staff at Wellington Place and Brookewood Nursing Home for love and care they gave Willie; ;for the past 10 years.
