Willie Mae McKenzie Ashley, 99, of Mt. Juliet,TN and formerly of Decatur, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 17, 2016.

She was born on April 20, 1917 to the late Henry Morrison "Bud" McKenzie and Mary Elizabeth Jarvis McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Roy C. Ashley Jr.

Ms Willie was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church since 1941. She was a charter member of Meigs County Historical Society and has traveled to over 100 countries doing mission work and vacationing. She won several poetry awards and one of her poems was put on display in a museum in Washington D.C. at the request of President Ronald Regan.

Those left to cherish her memory is her son: Roy C. (Virginia) Ashley III of Smyrna, TN, brother: James "Dee" McKenzie of Decatur, 2 grandchildren: Kimberly (Barry) Hooper, Keith (Elisa) Ashley and 3 great grandchildren Morgan Ashley, Jordan Hooper, Jeremy Hooper, and 1 great great grandchild Jaxon Hooper. A host of church family and friends will miss her as well.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m., on Thursday July 21, 2016. The funeral will be held at 1pm Thursday with the Rev. Bill Pearman and the Rev. Earl Graves officiating in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur. Interment will immediately follow in the Decatur Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Don Jarvis, Jerry Lewis, Dean Ervin, James Cross, Jewell Swafford, Mike Ricker.
