William "Bill" Edward Lankford

William "Bill" Lankford, 79, of Decatur passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was born in Meigs County and was a life long resident of Decatur. Bill enjoyed farming and dirt track races. He loved hanging out with the guys at Hardees in Decatur. He was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church and had also attended Union Grove Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Frances Lankford; his loving wife of 50 years, Sara "Sissy" Lankford; an infant sister, Polly Lankford; sisters, Faye Akens and Iva Porter; and brothers, James K "Dock" Lankford, John F. Lankford, Ralph Lankford, and Garland Lankford.

Survivors include several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Bowers Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 5 to 7pm. Funeral services with Masonic Rites will be at 7pm with Rev. Herman Jordan officiating. Burial will be Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at 11am in Decatur Cemetery.
