Virginia "Kay" Salazar, 73, of Decatur passed away February 6, 2019 at her home. She was born in Cleveland the daughter of Kenneth and Irene Griggs. She had been a resident of Decatur for the past 26 years coming from California. She loved to be outdoors working in the flower garden and keeping the house clean. She was a Methodist and had attended Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Irene Elliot; a brother, Jimmy Elliot; a daughter, Tammy Salazar; and a son-in-law, Jason Odin.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Louis Salazar of Decatur; a son Sean Salazar (Alexis) of Athens; daughters, Jamie Sue Plumber (Joe) and Angela Odin, all of California; a brother, Tommy Elliott of North Carolina; a sister, Clara Lee Hopper of Mineral Bluff, Georgia; two grandsons, Lance and Jason; a granddaughter, Nikki; a great grandson, Rylan; a nephew, Kenneth Elliott; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Elliott.
The family will receive friends at Bowers Funeral Home from 5pm to 7pm Friday, February 15, 2019. Funeral services will follow at 7pm with Rev. David Moore officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
