Virginia Lou Ashley
September 17, 1940 — February 20, 2019
Virginia Ashley, 78, of Smyrna passed away February 20, 2019 following an extended illness. She was born in Athens and had been a resident of Smyrna for the past forty-two years coming from Knoxville. Virginia loved to travel, read and spend time with her family. She was a Baptist by faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mary Lou Goforth and her brother, Billy Goforth.
Survivors include her husband Roy Ashley of Smyrna; a son, Keith Leroy Ashley (Elisa) of South Carolina; a daughter, Kim Hooper (Barry) of Brentwood; a sister, Sue Drake of Riceville; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2pm at the Idlewild Baptist Church with Minister Lee Swafford officiating. Burial will follow in Idlewild Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Family will serve at pallbearers. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Idelwild Baptist Church Cemetery fund.
