Tony Hixson

Tony Bryan Hixson, age 70, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025.

Tony dedicated his professional life to carpentry, proudly serving as a valued member of the Carpentry Union Local 74. His skilled hands crafted not only buildings but also cherished memories that will remain with his family and friends.

Tony was a devoted member of Maple Grove Baptist Church. He was known for his adventurous spirit, which drew him to a variety of hobbies. Whether he was enjoying woodworking, tinkering on old cars, or indulging his passion for racing, his enthusiasm was infectious. Additionally, Tony found peace and joy in fishing, exploring historical sites, and boating, creating countless memories that will be treasured by his loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his father, Founty Hixson; step father, Donald Tanner; mother of his children, Nancy Gold; sister-in-law, Velma Hixson.

He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Tanner; brother, Dale Hixson; wife, Susan Hixson; children, Cynthia (Whitney) Brown, Benjamin (Cathleen) Hixson, Catherine (Michael) Carlberg, Chris O'Rourke, Steven O'Rourke; grandchildren, Jaxson Brown, Elise Hixson, Christian, Chloe, Cheyenne, and Carlson Carlberg; great grandson, Oakland Carlberg; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
