Thomas Underwood

Thomas (Tom) Leroy Underwood, 64, of Meigs County, TN, passed away February 27, 2017, at U. T. Medical Center in Knoxville, TN.

Tom was born March 8, 1952 at Fort Shelby hospital in Bristol, Virginia to the late Thomas F. and Peggy Underwood. He was the Owner/Operator for Tom Underwood Trucking since 1980. He considered the farmers on his route his friends and he gained so much knowledge from them.

Some of Tom's greatest enjoyments were go cart races, four wheeling, mud bogging, trucks, gardening and fishing on the Tennessee River. He loved grilling for his family and friends. He just wanted everyone to have a good time.

The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at U. T. Hospital for their care and support.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his brother Glenn Alan Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Sloop Underwood of Niota, TN, Sons: Joseph Nail of Winchester, VA, Tony Sloop (Candice) of Niota, TN, Shane Sloop (crystal) of Athens, TN and Brother: Mike Underwood of Middle Town, VA and Sisters: Shirley McBee (Ed) of Front Royal, VA, Andred Buracker (Denny) of Winchester, VA, Marilyn Buracker (Ronnie) of Clearbrook, VA, Brenda Wilson (Sam) of Clearbrook, VA and Grandchild, Donavan Sloop, of Athens, TN Aunt: Rosteen Price of Knoxville, TN Uncle: Cecil Underwood of Decatur, TN Special Boys: Rusty, Peanut, Scooter. Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Grand Nieces, Grand Nephews and Cousins will all miss him.

The family will receive friends on 5 till 8 pm, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Bowers Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 4, 2017 in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Hone with the Rev. Fred Cunningham officiating.
