Thelma Ruth Hickman

Ruth Jewell Hickman, 90, of Decatur, TN, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at her home. She was a member of the Mt Carmel United Methodist Church. She was a teacher, having retired after 25 years of teaching from Meigs Co Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Jewell and Ocie (Allen) Jewell, her loving husband of 64 years, John B. "J.B." Hickman, and her brothers, Allen and T.H. "Doc" Jewell (wife Irene Henley Jewell).

She is survived by her beloved and devoted son Allen, dear family friends, Tommie Kaye and Edd Layman, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.

Graveside service will be 11am Friday, May 25, 2018 with the Rev. Hugh Brian officiating. Interment will be in Decatur Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Todd Jewell, Andy Jewell, Richie Layman, Heath Layman, Ron Hennessee, and Tommy Burton. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Jewell and Edd Layman. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, May 24, from 5-8 pm at the Bowers Funeral Home.
