Susan Joy (Ware) Rogers

December 27, 1946 — February 5, 2021

Susan Joy Ware Rogers, age 74, went home to be with the Lord on February 5, 2021 at her Decatur, Tennessee residence. She was transferred from our arms into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior. Having been born in Decatur and being a member of First Baptist Church, anyone who met or knew Susan knew she was the queen of hospitality. This love for people was on display for the community when she co-owned and operated the hometown restaurant The Gathering Place. Whether it was through a good southern meal or one of her famous Susan stories, she went out of her way to make all she knew to feel known and welcomed. She and Larry shared a deep love and devotion for 55 years, a romance that was a testament to us all. Equally so was her faith in God’s sovereignty and His provision for their lives. The verse she lived by was 2 Corinthians 5:7, “For we walk by faith, not by sight”. God’s faithfulness was her firm foundation. She is preceded in death by her father and mother: Earl and Mildred Ware, brother-in-law: Doyle Thomas. She is survived by her husband: Larry Gene Rogers, sister: Carol Thomas of Copper Hill, TN, her three children: Meloney Rogers, Heith Rogers, Gayla and son-in-law Jimmy Renslow and her five grandchildren: Boe, Mac, Leia, Zuri, and Zeke Renslow. There will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation instead be made in the name of Susan Rogers to First Baptist Church Decatur, Tennessee. Donations will be put toward Relay for Life to help aid in the fight for a cure for cancer. Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the Rogers Family.
