Seldon Vance Brown "Van" 71, of Decatur, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2011. Born in Fort Madison, Iowa, Van had been a resident of Meigs County since 1979. He sold insurance and wrote policies for the residents of Meigs County through 2008, as well as working at Auto Zone and owning Brown's Down Home Restaurant in Decatur. Van was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Ann; two sisters, Karen Tuttle and Phyllis Badgeley; one brother Roger Brown; grandchildren Lisa and Logan Brown . Van is survived by a large and loving family including his wife, Janice Louise; sons, Kevin, Bob, and Bill Brown, Jonathan, Stephen, and Christopher Rathbun, Lee Rathbun and wife Elissa; daughters Bethene Perkins and husband Jimmy, Rachel Whaley and husband Billy; He leaves behind 15 grandchildren with one on the way and 12 great grandchildren who will miss him greatly. Van is also survived by three brothers, Wesley Brown and wife Violet, George Brown, Stephen Brown and wife Jenny; three sisters, Elizabeth Cordova, Judy Rotchford and husband Herb, Debbie Armstrong and husband Bruce. The Funeral will be held on Wed. Aug. 31 at 2 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur, TN with interment to follow at Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation is set for Tuesday August 30 from 5-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be John Rathbun, Lee Rathbun, Stephen Rathbun, Chris Rathbun, Billy Whaley, and Zachary Brown.
