Sara Elizabeth Lankford

Sara Elizabeth Lankford "Cubby", 85, of Decatur passed away Monday, January 22, 2018. She was born in Rockwood and had been a resident of Decatur for the past 51 years coming from Rockwood. Cubby was an avid Race car derby fan and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. She retired from Shaw industries as a Twister Operator after 40 years of employment. She was a member of Pisgah Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Robbie Nell Teague, several aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Cubby is survived by her faithful husband of 50 years, Bill Lankford of Decatur; a brother-in-law Garland Lankford (Gay) of Decatur; Sisters-in-law, Imogene Lankford, Dolores Lankford, and Peggy Lankford, all of Decatur and Faye Akens of Sweetwater; and several cousins, Sue Burnette Smith, Betty Jean Lane Brumley, Judy Lane Fauth, Patsy Teague Thornton, Peggy Teague Brown, Linda Kay Cheek, and Virginia Teague Evans.

Funeral services will be at 2PM, Friday, January 26, 2018 at Bowers Funeral Home with Rev. Herman Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
