Sam Alfred Mcelhaney

Rev. S. A. "Hoss" McElhaney, age 86 went to be home with the Lord Tuesday June 14, 2011 at The Life Care Center of Athens . He preached the old time Gospel over the radio for over 50 years, served as Pastor of many Churches in TN, and preached revivals in many other states throughout his lifetime. He was preceded in death by his one and only wife, Sarah (Sitzlar) McElhaney some 23 years earlier; Parents, Robert "Bob" and Bessie Leffew McElhaney; Daughter, Joyce Ann McElhaney; Brother, Robert "Buck" McElhaney; Sisters; Mildred Hughes, Flora Sitzlar, and Bonnie Harrison. He is survived by three sons and one daughter, Pastor John and wife Margaret McElhaney, Samuel and wife Gloria McElhaney, Duggan and wife Darlene McElhaney, Brenda Brown; six grandchildren, Melissa Stinnett, Gary McElhaney, Justin McElhaney, Rev. Jonathon Brown, Christy Cagle and Tonya Seargant; eleven great grandchildren, Jon, Monica, Amber, and Holly McElhaney, Isaac, Isaiah, Elias, and Gabriel Stinnett, Courtney, and Christian Cagle, Reaon Myrick, Malaci Kenslow; three great great grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth McElhaney, Boyd McElhaney, Lester and wife Tom McElhaney; sisters, Lennie West and husband Eugene, Betty West and husband Robert. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday June 17, 2011 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Pastor John McElhaney and Dallas Nance officiating. Internment Friday at Hornsby Hollow Cemetery following the funeral. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
