Roy Cowan Ashley, Lll

Roy Cowan Ashley, III, age 83, of Smyrna, TN and formerly of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, October 03, 2023 in Brentwood, TN.

He was a son of the late Roy C. Ashley, Sr and Willie Mae Mckenzie Ashley. Roy was of the Baptist faith. Roy worked for the State of Tennessee in the division of Forestry as Tennessee State Forester. He was also a volunteer with the Red Cross for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Virginia Lou Ashley.

He is survived by his children: Kim Hooper (Barry) and Keith Ashley (Elisa); grandchildren: Jeremy Hooper, Jordan Voller (Nic), Morgan Petersen  (Dustin); great grandchildren: Jaxon Hooper, Declan Voller, Colton Voller, Raegan Petersen; other extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 9, 2023 at the Idlewild Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Idlewild Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m. on Monday at the church prior to the service.
