Richard Lee King, age 78, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2024. He was a son of the late William and Mildred Leonard King. He was a member of Meigs Lodge #213 F.&A.M. for 33 years, Local 43 Plumbers and Steamfitters in Chattanooga, and Hiwassee Chapter Sons of American Revolution in Athens. He joined the Air Force in 1966 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from Bowater in 2006 after over 20 years of service. He is preceded in death by his siblings: William King Sr. and Jerry King Sr.; nephew: Bill King Jr. He is survived by his wife of 43 years: Patricia King; children: Kenyon (Kristy) Patterson, Richard Lee (Shelly) King II, Michelle King (Christopher) Barker, Daniel King, Charley (Jackie) King; grandchildren: Alizabeth Patterson, Liam Patterson, WilliamKing, Andrew King, Victoria Chance, Gabriella Barker, Charles Patrick King, and Max King; great grandchildren: Benjamin Chance, Silas Chance, Everett Chance; special friends: Carolyn Clark and Jamie Newton, other extended family and a host of friends. A memorial service will be held at 6 P.M. on Monday, December 30, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Decatur. The family will receive friends from 4 – 6 P.M. on Monday at the church,. prior to the service.
