Ralph Wayne Jarvis, Sr.

Ralph W. Jarvis, age 84, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 14, 2017 at his home. He was a son of the late Luther M. Jarvis and Edith Scroggins Jarvis Greene and is preceded in death by his brother: Robert Jarvis and one grandson: Matt Jarvis.

Ralph was a faithful member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church, Decatur, TN and had been the overseer of the Walnut Grove Cemetery for many years. He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force, served as a Meigs County Commissioner for 27 years, and was a member of the Lions Club. Ralph will be remembered by his family as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Jarvis, daughter, Gail (Jerry) Franklin, his sons Wayne (Margie) Jarvis and Bob (Sherry) Jarvis; granddaughters Tara (Robbie) Crane, Wendy (Jeremy) Bowman, Lacey (Nathan) Dennis, and Tiffany (Jeremy) Bivens; grandson Cory Jarvis; great grandchildren Lake Dennis, Cienna Dennis, Braeden Bowman, Briley Bowman, and Eli Barker; his brother Donald (Phyllis) Jarvis, and several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be conducted on Monday, April 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the Walnut Grove Cemetery with the Reverend Mike Rymer officiating. Cory Jarvis, Tony Jarvis, Reed O'Daniel, Brent Jarvis, Ronnie Jarvis, and Doug O'Daniel will serve as pallbearers. George Paul, Ross Henley, Kenny Shackleford, Dee McKenzie, and the members of the Walnut Grove Senior Adult Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m on Sunday, April 16, 2017 at Bowers Funeral Home.
