Phyllis Elaine (Gideon) Thurman

Phyllis Elaine Gideon Thurman, age 66, of Dayton, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga. She was a daughter of the late Clyde and Edna Carney Gideon. She was a member of the Old Washington Baptist Church. She loved to help people in many ways whether it was cooking, driving people, planning family get togethers, and various other ways. She is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years: Albert Thurman, brothers: Clyde Gideon, Charles Smith. She is survived by her sister-in law: Joyce Smith of Dayton, special nephew: C.J., several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Rusty Revis officiating. Interment will be held at 10:00 CST on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 in the Worthington Cemetery in Pikeville. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 prior to the service on Tuesday.
