Phyllis Irwin Bryant, 73, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord Saturday Nov. 8, 2014 at Life Care Center of Athens. She was a member of the Wolf Creek Baptist Church. She was a graduate of the University of TN, Knoxville and UT at Chattanooga. She was a retired teacher and principal in the Meigs County School System. She taught at Ten Mile Elementary School and was Principal of the Fairview Elementary School. She was a past president of Zeta Gamma Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, International. She also belonged to the Meigs County Retired Teachers Association the TEA and NEA organizations. She is survived by her husband Charles Bryant of Decatur; 2 nephews and their wives, Mark and Tonya Irwin of Ten Mile, Ross and Lynette Irwin of Ten Mile; special great niece, Arian Irwin of Ten Mile and a aunt, Thelma Padgett of Ooltewah; and a host of good friends. Funeral service will be held at 8 pm, Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Forgy officiating. Interment will be at 11 am, Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 in Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 pm, Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at the funeral home.
