Olive Pearl Seguin Wright drew her first breath in Ogdensburg, NY at 5:30pm Sunday, October 28, 1923 and her last breath in Niota TN at 11:37 am Wednesday, January 26,2022. In those 98 years that she was on this earth she made the most of every breath she took. She was of Methodist faith and enjoyed attending Ten Mile Methodist Church in Ten Mile, TN. She also loved reading, painting, volunteering, starting fires and raising a ruckus. When her mother, Helen Hill Seguin (1904-1925) passed away at a young age, Olive’s father William Seguin (1891-1970),not knowing what else to do, allowed her mother’s parents, Daniel David Hill (1879-1960)and Cora Johnt Hill (1883-1941) to raise her. She used to tell everyone that her mother was watching over her as she was the first star to come out each night. She was raised by her grandparents on Crossover Island in a lighthouse in the middle of the Saint Lawrence River in Ogdensburg, NY. Everyone she came in contact with lived vicariously on that island through her. She married James Joseph Jones (1927-1980) and started a family. In a quirky twist of fate, she was an only child who raised nine children Danny (1944-1999) Jim, Jack (1950-2021) (Brenda), Don, Kathy (Rich Cooley), Dennis (Brandi), LaDare (Jim Conant), Rusty (Paige) and Donna (Greg Years). She and Jim chose to raise their children in and around Canandaigua New York. After she and the children’s father parted ways, she worked the night shift at the local VA hospital as a nursing assistant to support them. In 1974 she married Howard E Wright (1919-2010) from Italy, New York and they started their adventurous life. Making memories in NY, Florida and Tennessee. For 37 years they were partners in crime. After Howard’s passing she went to live with her son,Dennisand wife ,Brandi and their family. While living in a home with kids, she became grandma to all of Nathan and Kinley's friends and to the deer on the property (Grams Deer)and actually anyone that came thru the door. She left behind more nieces, nephews grandchildren, great grands and great great grands than we can count. She was a joy to all who helped care for her these last few years. A special thanks to granddaughter: Heather (Scott) Almond and Alan and Brenda Austin (Brandi's parents) who would always come to her rescue weather it be to take her for a ride or get her golf cart unstuck. Thanks also to Hospice of Athens TN for making her journey a peaceful one. She choose to be cremated and there will be no formal services, as per her wishes. She was an avid storyteller and wants everyone to gather as they can and share her memories and stories. Her light will forever shine brightly as she joins her mother in becoming the second star out each night. No formal services will be held. Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the Wright family.
