Nancy Louise Mercer, age 74, of Ten Mile, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022. She was a daughter of the late Tom and Mabel Mercer. Nancy was raised in Ten Mile on a family dairy farm where she continued to live and farm until the time of her passing. Nancy was an educator for over 36 years primarily in the Meigs County School System. She applied her passion for sports and students as a basketball and softball coach for many years at Ten Mile Elementary School. In retirement she served as the President of the Meigs Retired Teachers Association where she was instrumental in developing a grant program to support the teachers of Meigs County. She also supported the community in a variety of ways by her service on the Meigs County Library Board, Ocoee Regional Library Board, Ocoee Regional Health Board and volunteered during elections and on the St Mary’s Health Bus. She was a proud member of the Ten Mile community. She is survived by her siblings: Jim Mercer (Beth), Rebecca Burnette (Steve) and her beloved Nieces: Rachel Combs (Jason), Allison Burnette, a fierce Great Niece: Reagan Mercer Combs, and a host of extended family and friends. A Memorial Service celebrating Nancy’s life will be conducted by the family at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Meigs North Elementry School Gymnasium.
