Mary Sue Lillard

Mary Sue Lillard, 86, life-long resident of Decatur, passed away Monday, October 10, 2011, at Life Care Center of Collegedale. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Myrtle Lillard. She was also preceded in death by her brothers C. W. and Bob Lillard. She was an active member of Decatur First Baptist Church, until her illness prevented her from attending. She graduated from Meigs High School in 1944 and attended Draughn's Business College in Knoxville. She went to work at Volunteer Electric Cooperative in 1946 and worked there for 51 years. Survivors include sister Nancy (Lillard) Guinn of Cleveland, TN; sister-in-law Martha Lillard of Decatur, TN; nieces and nephews, Jala (Howard) West, Neal Howard (Paula) of Rosewello, GA; Darlene Inch (Jim), Ann Marie Sivic, David Lillard and Jeff Lillard of Michigan. Several great nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Connie Workman, and her work family at VEC, will miss her. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011 in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jamie Davis officiating. Interment will be in the Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be: Lindsay Aragon, Zak Aragon, Cecil Lillard, Chuck Lillard, Jim Lillard and Donnie Smith.
