Marvin Henry Wilson, Sr.

Marvin Henry (Boatman) Wilson, Sr., 73, of Decatur went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mildred (Stone) Wilson; one grandchild. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 418 in Soddy Daisy, A lifetime member of AMVETS Post 90 in Decatur. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, trained in OH-58 Helicopter Repair Mechanic, Helicopter Technical Inspection, was Also a helicopter pilot while on active duty. He liked working on boats and he was also into upholstery repair work. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Wilma (Daniels) Wilson, of Decatur; three sons and two daughter-in-laws, Charlie Wilson of California, Marvin Henry and Barbara Wilson, Jr. of Perry GA, Clinton and Angela Wilson of Perry, GA; one daughter, Tonya Lones of Perry, GA; two step daughters and son-in-laws, Crystal and Alan Letner of Ten Mile, Kelly and Tony Shirk of Niota; one brother and sister-in-law, James and Helen Wilson of Hawkinsville, GA; one sister and brother-in-law, Bobbie and Wallace Dean of Perry, GA; 15 grandchildren; one great grandchild, and a host of good friends; and two special friends, John and Dot Morgan. Masonic service will be held at 7 pm, Thursday in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home, followed by funeral service with the Rev. Max Redman officiating, with Military Honors after the service will be held on the funeral home parking lot. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-7 pm on Thursday. June 25, 2015.
