Margaret Harrietta Chapman Roberts, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
Harrietta was an esteemed educator, serving many years as the Attendance Supervisor, Federal Director, and Chapter 1 Supervisor for the Meigs County Board of Education. Her commitment to the education and well-being of her students was evident throughout her career. She was a proud charter member of the Decatur Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she was a foundational block and her contributions laid a solid foundation for the church.
Beyond her professional obligations, she found joy in various pursuits. She had a passion for gardening, the thrill of finding antiques, and the simple pleasure of picking flowers. Additionally, she enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, and creating lasting memories with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ed Roberts; parents, Harry and Lena Chapman; siblings, Mack Chapman, Sara Kay Perkinson.
She is survived by her sister, Vivian Chapman; children, Kent Roberts, Cherrie Roberts (Mark Howard), Lenora Roberts (Jack Bendschneider); grandchildren, Justin (Nikki) McConkey, Chapman (Mckayla) Parks, Lauren (CJ) Key, Coltyn Parks; great grandchildren, Jace McConkey, Hayes McConkey, Ceila Jane Key; special friend that is like family, Dana Smith; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Monica McGuire along with Nurses Melissa and Jessica with Hospice of Chattanooga- Athens for their exceptional care of Mrs. Roberts.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026 in the Meigs County Memorial Gardens with Pastor Fred Fuller officiating. Pallbearers will include Justin McConkey, Chapman Parks, Coltyn Parks, CJ Key, Mark Howard, and Jack Bendschneider.
