Mack Newman

Mack "Popeye" Newman, 79, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015.

He was a member of the Walnut Grove Baptist Church..

He was preceded in death by his mother Florence Newman; wife Virgie Newman; brother Jack Newman; grandparents Freeman and Bessie (Mullins) Newman.

Survivors include his son Jim Newman and Kenny Harris of Nashville, TN; daughter Mackie Newman of Decatur; brother J. B. Newman and wife Sue of Decatur; sisters, Helen Kunkel and husband Michael of Spring City, TN, Betty Jo Neil of Spring City; grandchildren, Jason Newman, Courtney Partin, Logan Miller, Kerionna Taylor and Kaylee Higgins; several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special thanks to friend Christy Lankford, special friend Fat Cat.

The funeral will be held at 8 pm, Sun. Jan. 3, 2016 in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. "Cowboy" Robert Henderson officiating.

Burial will 11 am, Mon., Jan. 4, 2016 in Mountain View Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 pm Sunday, Jan 3, 2016 at the funeral home.
