Mabel L. Mercer, Age 92, of Ten Mile, TN, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2010. She was the youngest daughter of the late Pearl L. and George O. Campbell and was reared in Sulpher Springs, Tennessee in Washington County. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Home Economics and worked in Education for 28 years. She was a member of the Meigs County Retired Teachers Association and a Member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was of the Presbyterian Faith. She and her husband Tom enjoyed farming in Ten Mile on the Mercer Farm. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Tom O. Mercer; sisters Naomi Rhea, Pauline Campbell and Theola Campbell; brothers, Dan Campbell, Clyde Campbell and Selmer Campbell. She is survived by her son an daughter-in-law, Jim and Beth Mercer of Decatur, TN; two daughters and one son-in-law, Rebecca and Steve Burnette, Nancy Mercer all of Ten Mile, TN; 2 grandchildren Rachel Combs and Allison Burnette.. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with Father Hendree Harrison officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Decatur, TN. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Monday, April 5, 2010 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Meigs County Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund or the Meigs County Public Library. Pallbearers: Bobby West, Wayne Hughes, Larry Hughes, Jerry Swanks, Gerald Woody and Ron Conaway.
