Mabel Dennis

Mabel Dennis, 97, of Riceville, died April 14, 2016 at Life Care Center of Athens. She was born March 10, 1919, to the late Pleas and Haley (Hyde) McKinney and was the oldest member of Short Creek Baptist Church, having been a member since 1931. She was also preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children Lake Dennis, her second husband, Albert Jackson, son-in-law, Lowell Nipper, brother Willard McKinney and sisters Opal King and Blanche Norwood.

She is survived by her son, Bobby Dennis and wife Sarah of Decatur, daughters Helen Nipper and Juanita Rogers and husband Don of Athens, grandsons David Nipper, Ron Nipper and wife Kristie, and Nathan Dennis and wife Lacey; great grandsons Jared, Zachary, Logan and Riley Nipper and Lake Dennis, great granddaughters Lauren Nipper and Cienna Dennis, brothers Carl, Fred and Scott McKinney.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 pm, Saturday, April 16, at the funeral home.

Funeral Service will be held at 7 :00 pm, Saturday, April 16, 2016 in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with Rev. Victor Abernathy officiating.

Interment will at 2 pm, Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Short Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Bobby Dennis, Nathan Dennis, David Nipper, Ron Nipper, Reed O'Daniel, Junior King.

Honorary pallbearer: Lake Dennis
