Lucinda Heck Buchanan, age 64 (former resident of Decatur, TN) who was well known and respected by many died unexpectedly on Sunday, July 14th at her home in Atlanta, Georgia with grandson Blake Whitehead, daughters Teresa Hodges, Holly Buchanan, adopted daughter Lisa Swift and Son-in-Law David Hodges after complications stemming from her yearlong battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer. Lucinda, a daughter of the late Elmer and Pearl Heck of Decatur, TN; sister to Jimmy Heck, Bobby Heck, Junie Heck, Yvonne Owens, Ivadell Varnell , Joann Goins and aunt to many nieces and nephews all of Meigs County was born on March 6, 1949 and was a faithful member of Trinity Community Church in Jonesboro, Georgia. Lucinda had been an Executive Real Estate Manger with Lexington Square Cooperatives in Atlanta, GA for over 35 years, she was an accomplished Cosmetologist as well as a certified Welder. She loved life and lived it to the fullest; fishing, zip lining, snow skiing, wakeboarding and making friends everywhere she went. She will be missed during this short time of separation but will live forever thru her legacy and will be remembered by everyone. Receiving of Friends and Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 16th at Bowers Funeral Home from 5pm to 8pm with the Funeral Service & Burial at Decatur Cemetery on Wednesday, July 17th at 11:00am. There will be a Memory Celebration held for Lucinda on Saturday, July 20th at 5:00pm at Lexington Square Clubhouse in Atlanta, GA (1625 Conley Road, Conley, GA 30288) Please join us as we Celebrate the Life and Spirit of Lucinda.
