Lois Jean Bosworth Mchone

October 6, 1939 — May 7, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Jean Bosworth McHone, age 85, of Decatur, TN, who went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 7, 2025.

Lois was born in McDonough, NY but moved to Largo, FL in 1948 at the age of 9. She enjoyed marching with the Largo HS Band of Gold where she was proud to be part of the ensemble that made an album in 1956. For many years she shared her talents performing music with St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra and The Clearwater Community Symphony. In 1964 she moved to Decatur, TN with her husband and children. She enjoyed working at TVA where she was an Administrative Officer, retiring in 1994. She was a devoted philanthropist who was passionate about watching the TN Lady Vols. Painting, gardening, reading, cooking, sharing her recipes and spending time with family were some of her favorite pastimes.

Lois was the daughter of the late Lorenzo Jay Bosworth and Dorothy Ann Stiles Bosworth. She attended Pisgah Baptist Church of Decatur, TN for many years.

Lois was preceded in death by her sister Daretta June Aldrich, two brothers Donald J. Bosworth and Louie W. (Buddy) Nightengale and a grandson, Joshua Charles Allen.

Lois leaves behind her beloved husband of 65 years, Rex C. McHone. Three daughters: Nancy Anderson of Athens, TN, Donna (David) Cook of Cleveland, TN, Kathy (Chris) Hoskins of Decatur, TN and one son: Randall (Amy) McHone of Decatur, TN. Eight grandchildren: Brooke Anderson, Jaclyn Anderson, Jonathon (Cheryl) Allen, Nathan Watson, Lindsey (John) Pekala, Dalton Lee McHone, Dalton Hoskins, Autumn Hoskins, five great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.

A Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in the Meigs County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dusty Caldwell officiating. Pallbearers will be Jonathon Allen, Nathan Watson, Dalton McHone, Drake Allen, Chris Hoskins, and David Cook.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Lois’s memory.
