Lavonne Cox Johns

Lavonne Cox Johns, age 96, of Decatur, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024.

She was a daughter of the late Vader and Mae Green Cox. She was a charter member of Cottonport Road Church of God since 1953.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Harvey H. Johns; daughter: Linda Diane Johns; siblings: Ernest Cox, A.C Cox, Roberta Boyarsky, Thelma Pendergrass; son-in-law: Mike Long.

She is survived by her children: Duane (Debbie) Johns, David (Janice) Johns, Wanda (David) Bryant, Delores Long, Fay (Frank) Calia; grandchildren: Allison (Jeff) Thompson, Leeann Parris, Hannah (Jay) Kyker, Nicholas (Alica) Calia, Katie (Michael) Golden, Seth (Laura) Johns, Caleb (Jessica) Johns, Daryl “Dee Dee” (Drake) Haney; great-grandchildren: Riley, Rylan, Izzy, Landon, Chase, Kailee, Easton, Channing, Mila, Ada; several nieces, nephews, other extended family.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Rev. Kern Eschette and Rev. Clifford Waters officiating.

Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, in the Beta Cemetery with Grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m., prior to the service on Thursday.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga for their wonderful care, Amber, Bridget, Hannah, Holly, Southern, Dr. Carter, and Dr. Roberts.
