Karen Jennings Combs

Karen Jennings Combs, 45, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, at her home. She was a native of Meigs County and an avid Tiger fan. She a teacher at the Meigs Middle School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Perry and Edna Jennings and Malcolm and Amanda Brown, and one son, Seth Eli Combs. Survivors include: her loving husband of 21 years Jerry Combs and two daughters, Courtney and Natalee Combs all of Decatur; her parents Raymond and Sue Jennings of Decatur; mother-in-law Sue Barnes of Riceville; brother Greg Jennings and wife Sondra of Ooltewah; sister Joy Gilliland and husband Drew of Cleveland; brother-in-law Jeff Combs and wife Joann of Athens; two nieces, Claire and Mia Gilliland and 3 nephews; Ben Gilliland, Kevin and Ryan Combs. Also several aunts, uncles, cousins and loving friends. Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, in the Meigs County High School Gym with the Rev. Jamey Davis and Rev. Craig Dale officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 pm, Wednesday, Aug 22 at the Meigs County High School Gym. Burial will be in the Cottonport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the First Baptist Church of Decatur Missions Fund.
