Joyce Ann Chumley Monroe

Joyce Ann Chumley Monroe, age 87, of Decatur, passed away Friday, January 3, 2025.

She was a devoted member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a loving mother and grammy. She enjoyed baking, going on family vacations to the mountains, and spending time with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents: William Bert and Ethel Lee Norman Chumley; husband: David Monroe; siblings: WP, Jim, Bob, Delbert, Larry, Dorothy, Betty, Shirley; son-in-law: Steve Scheider.

She is survived by her children: Kevin Monroe of Decatur, Brenda Scheider of Dallas, GA, Kent Monroe (Myra) of Athens, TN; grandchildren: Anndrea Melton (Daniel) of Douglasville, GA, Joseph Ours (Kayla); 4 great grandchildren; several special nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Chattanooga, for their wonderful care of Mrs. Monroe.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Josh Cornelius officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 3 p.m., prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations to be made to Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
