Joseph Thomas Souza

Joseph Thomas Souza, 85, of Decatur passed away Friday, August 31, 2018.

He was born in Mountain View, California and was a Street Maintenance Engineer for several years. He has resided in Decatur for the past 3 years coming from Tracy, California. Joseph enjoyed carving walking sticks. He proudly served in the United States Navy in the mid 1950's. He loved God, guns and his country. He reminds us, "don't mess with that Eagle". He was a Catholic by faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Laura Souza.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Helen Souza of Decatur; a son, Joe Souza of Texas; a daughter, Regina Sexton (Tery) of Decatur; a brother, Tom Souza of San Martin, CA; a sister, Virginia Chuna of Hollister, CA; and seven grandchildren.

At the family's request, no public services are scheduled at this time. The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the caregivers, nurses and doctors of Hospice of Chattanooga for their professional and compassionate care of Joseph and the attention they gave to the needs of his family.
