Joseph Vadino Oggs, 44, of Spring City passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 11, 2018. He was born in Knoxville but was a lifelong resident of Spring City. He was a standout Football player for Rhea County High School, playing the running back position where he won several awards and achieved record breaking status. He also played for Tennessee Tech a couple of years. He loved his children and enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Joseph was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ivon Lenoir and Olivia Scruggs; his maternal grandparents, Gail Gillespie and Bertha Howell Gillespie; and several aunts and nephews.
Survivors include his parents, James and Shirley Oggs of Spring City; his sons, Kannon Davino Oggs of Dayton and Priest Savino Oggs of Knoxville; his brothers, Vashon Oggs (Stacey) of Nashville and Jason Oggs (Rashundra "Nicole") of Nashville; and his nephews, Xavier Oggs, Braxton Oggs, and Jayden Oggs.
A celebration of his life will be held Monday, September 17, 2018 at 12:30pm at the Spring City United Methodist Church with Rev. Candice Dendy officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 11am to 12:30pm. Burial will follow the services at Euchee Gillespie Cemetery in Spring City.
