John Michael “Mike” Stokes, age 58, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026.

Mike was born on August 24, 1968, in Decatur, Tennessee, where he was raised with deep roots in the community he loved. A proud 1987 graduate of Meigs County High School, he went on to serve his country with honor. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and dedicated 20 years to faithful and distinguished military service before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wendy Stokes; father: John R. Stokes.

He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Stokes of Chattanooga, TN; daughter, Brianna (Steve) Stokes of Greenville, NY; son, Shawn (Shana) Barker; 4 grandchildren, Skylar, Keylin, Atlan, Freya, all of St. Augustine, FL; sisters, Teresa Stokes and Joy Stokes (Jamey) Mckenzie, all of Decatur, TN; special nephew and niece, Corey Stokes and Nina Stokes of Decatur, TN; 3 great-nephews, Maddux, Maverick, Gibson; 1 great-niece, Malia; other extended family.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the Decatur Cemetery with Military Honors.
