John Thomas Lillard

John "Johnny" Thomas Lillard, 66, of Gainesville, GA, beloved father, gone but not forgotten, was taken home on Thursday, January 9, 2014. He was born and raised in Decatur, TN and graduated from Meigs County High School in 1965. He was of the Baptist faith. He was a disabled veteran serving during the Vietnam Era in the U.S. Air Force. Preceded in death by his parents, Charles Raymond and Elizabeth "Odell" (Brown) Lillard; two brothers, David Floyd Lillard and Roy Edward "Ed" Lillard. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Margaret Lillard of Gainesville GA; three daughters and son in laws, Karen Denise Connors and Danny of Callahan, FL and their children, Daniel Raymond Connors, II, Katherine "Katie" Nicole Connors, Patrick Thomas Connors, Sean O'Neal Connors, Donovan Jeffery Connors; Julie Annette Steward and Scott of Gainesville, GA and their children, Cherish Alena Steward, Christa Annette Steward; Angela Michelle Ray and Shawn of Gainesville, GA and their children, Christopher Ray and Kandice Ray; one brother Charles "Chuck" Raymond Lillard and special friend Faye Thurman of Decatur, TN; one sister Debra June Smith and Donny of Decatur, TN; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2014 in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Rymer officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Danny Connors, Daniel Connors II, Matt Smith, Donny Smith, Tony LeQuire, Shawn Ray.
