John Layman

John W. Layman Sr., 71,of Decatur, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 12, 2017, at Sweetwater Nursing Center.

A dedicated Christian, he walked closely with his Father and will spend eternity in His Kingdom. He was a hard-working, avid farmer, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend to many. He was proceeded in death by his father, Theodore Taft Layman, Sr, mother Bessie Marie McNabb Layman, brother Harold Layman and sister-in-law Doris Ann Layman and sister Ann Layman.

Survivors include his loving wife, Ethel Jennings Layman, Daughter and son-in-laws, Terrina and Keith Sartin, Lorrina and Casey Clark, Johnaca and J.J. Templeton. Daughter, Orzetta Layman and Son and daughter-in-law John W. Layman Jr and Irene. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the joy of his life.

Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowers Funeral Home.

The Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 14, 2017 from 3 - 6 p.m.

Interment will be Monday, May 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Decatur.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Oak Grove Methodist Church at Southeast Bank of Decatur.
