John B. Hickman

John B. "JB" Hickman, Jr., 88, of Decatur, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in Erlanger Health Center. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the U. S. Army. He was a Member of Boilermaker Local #453 in Knoxville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Hickman, Sr. and Belle (Weir) Hickman; brothers, Luther, Hubert and Spencer Hickman; sister Mabel Hickman Plank. He is survived his wife of 64 years Ruth (Jewell) Hickman of Decatur, TN; one son Allen Hickman of Decatur, TN; dear family friends Tommie Kaye and husband Edd Layman of Decatur, TN; several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 18, 2014 with Rev. Hugh Bryan officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 - 8 pm, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Decatur Cemetery. Pallbearers: Andy Jewell, Todd Jewell, Ron Hennessee, Ritchie Layman, Heath Layman and Tommy Burton. Honorary Pallbearers: Thomas Jewell and Edd Layman. In lieu of flowers make contributions to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church in c/o Mary Hixson, Lake Haven Lane, Decatur, TN 37322 or the Meigs County Cancer Fund.
