John L. (Screaker) Colbaugh, 79, of Decatur, died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 in the Athens Regional Medical Center. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Willie (Brown) Colbaugh; son, Kenneth Colbaugh, grandson, Jason Colbaugh, brother Ralph Colbaugh, sister, Dorothy Arnold. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Bertha (Runyan) Colbaugh of Decatur, TN; son, Frank (Spanky) Colbaugh of Decatur, TN; 4 brothers and 3 sister-in-laws, Taylor and Allene Colbaugh of Decatur, Kenneth and Ann Colbaugh of Harrison, Harles and Diane Colbaugh of Decatur, George Colbaugh of Decatur; one sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Paris Roberts of McMinn County; 4 grandchildren, Greg Colbaugh, Andy Colbaugh, Beth Hughes, Pamela Colbaugh; and several great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 pm, Thursday, at Bowers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Max Redman and Rev. Paul Isom officiating. Interment will be in the Shiloh Cemetery with Military Honors. Pallbearers: Greg Colbaugh, Andy Colbaugh, Matt Schrank, Scotty Hughes, Tim Colbaugh and Corey Hughes. Honorary Pallbearers: James (Smokey) Barnam, Jack Wright and Wayne Brown.
