Jimmy M Letner

March 2, 1943 — November 25, 2015



Jimmy McArthur Letner, 72, of Ten Mile, went home to be with the lord on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2015 at Parkwest Medical Center in Knoxville.

He was of the Baptist faith. A lifelong resident of Meigs County, he was known as the General Lee driver, giving rides to many children, frequenting car shows and parades.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ella Letner; brothers, Plez, Hub, John, Jeff and Henry; sisters, Lucy, Pearl and Venie.

Survivors include wife Linda Miller Letner, of Ten Mile; two sons Bobby and his wife Rose Letner and Steve Letner, all of Ten Mile; two daughters and their husbands, Tina and Bob Thomas, of Athens, and Terry and Alvin Childs, of Decatur; one brother, Dex Letner, of Ten Mile; seven grandchildren, Shaundra, Alvin II, Adam, Tyler, Brittany, Catrina and Nathan; four great grandchildren, Drake, Jax, Aaliyah and Mason and one on the way, Levi; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday at Walnut Grove Cemetery with Pastor Hamilton officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Adam Roberts, Alvin Childs II, Nathan Stiles, Tyler Letner, Steve Letner and Alvin Childs.
