Jimmy Paul Benson

Jimmy Paul Benson, Age 80, of Decatur, TN, went home to be with the Lord

on Friday, November 18, 2016 at his residence.

He was born on July 23, 1936 in Cleveland, TN and was a member of Bethsadia Baptist Church in Decatur. He was retired from Buster Brown Apparel with 42 years service. He proudly served his County in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Estelle Benson, one sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Jack Smith, and a brother, Charles Benson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Betty Louise Ledford Benson; daughters, Sheila Benson Bishop and her husband Marvin, and Sharon Benson all of Decatur; three granddaughters, Katie (Curtis) Elder, Jennifer (Ben) Axley, and Olivia Benson; four great-grandchildren, Matthew, Hannah, and Sarah Elder, and Abigail Axley; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Bobby Benson, LeeRoy and Regina Benson; a sister, Helen Hudson; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Kay Ledford, Margie Ledford, and Wanda Benson Manion, eight nieces, eleven nephews, and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, November 20, 2016 in the chapel of Bowers Funeral home with the Rev. Larry Sorah, the Rev. Jamey Davis, and Bishop Billy Benson officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethsadia Baptist Church Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 1 till 3 pm, Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the funeral home.
