Jerry Lee Ricker

Jerry Lee Ricker, 70, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord Saturday Dec. 19, 2015 surrounded by loved ones after a long battle with cancer.

Jerry was a lifelong resident of Decatur and a member of Five Point Baptist Church. He served our country as a gunner on the U.S.S. Maddox DD 731 in the Navy during the Vietnam era where he was awarded the National Defense Service Metal. He worked as an equipment operator and a lineman and was a member of I.B.E.W.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Stella Mae Ricker; 3 brothers, Herbert "Hub" Ricker, Joe Ricker and J.C. Ricker.

Survivors include his wife Mary "Libby" Emerson Ricker, of Decatur; step son, Tony Lynn Fox, of Knoxville; daughters, Helen Diane Ricker Bredwell and her husband Steven, of Decatur, Karen Sue Ricker and Todd Crisp, of Resaca, Ga; step daughters, Pat Fox, of Rockwood, Sandy Kay Fox and Terry Walker, of Decatur; brother, Clifford Ricker and his wife Sue, of Decatur; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Tuesday Dec. 22 at 8 pm with Pastor Chris Taylor officiating.

Interment will be 11 am Wednesday at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Bredwell, Tony Fox, Wayne "Jabo" Jarrett, Kermit Grissom, Joe Scroggins and Garrett Cline.

Honorary pallbearers and Stanley Welch and Terry Walker.
