Jay Brown

Jessie Doyle "Jay" Brown, 81, of Decatur, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015.

He was of the Church of God faith and worked as a dairy farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess M. and Mary (Farris) Brown; brothers, Ray and Lee Brown; sisters, Nina Childs and Sharon Brown; daughter, Elizabeth Ball.

Survivors include his wife Betty Brown, of Decatur; sons, Troy Brown and his wife Lisa, of Decatur, Charles Whittaker, of Ten Mile; daughters, Crystal Womack and her husband Kelly, of Philadelphia, TN and Sharon Sneed and her husband Robert, of Hixon; sister, Myrtle Moore and her husband Bud, of Decatur; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grand children and one on the way; several nieces and nephews; a host of good friends, including special family friends, Wilma Sue Womack and Sue King.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 11 at 8 pm with Pastor James Hughes officiating.

Interment will be 12:30 pm Saturday, Dec. 12 in Beta Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Petitt, Russell Rouse, Danny Brown, David Childs, Tom Childs and Eddie Walden.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 Friday at the funeral home.
