Janice Goforth Monroe, 66, of Decatur, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was a Member of the Faith Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Monroe, her parents Haskell and Sally Wilson Goforth, and her brother Clyde Goforth. She is survived by one son, Remus Harrill and his wife Donna of Madisonvile; two daughters, Shirley Harrill Dockery of Cleveland and Shawn Harrill of Decatur. One sister and brother-in-law Betty and Bobby Parris, one brother Dean Goforth, all of Decatur, and one very special friend and caregiver J. C. McMahan of Cleveland; 9 grand children and one great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Monday, June 24, 2013, with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m., in the Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Max Redman officiating. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: J. E. Wilson, Billy Wilson, Robert Howard, Bill Jarvis, Farrell Jarvis and Jimmy Goforth.
