James Earl Letner

September 26, 1933 — March 8, 2019

James Earl Letner, 85, Of Ten Mile passed away Friday, March 8, 2019 at his home. He was born in Rhea County and had been a general laborer for Laborers Local Union 818. He loved to fish.

James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Dixie Letner; his loving wife of 54 years, Nellie Letner; and his sisters, Barbara June Thomas, Catherine Renfro, Susie Roberts, and Monk Letner.

Survivors include his children Wayne Letner (Crystal) of Ten Mile, Debra Pilkey (Bobby) of Athens, and Ricky Letner of Ten Mile; his brothers and sisters, Doyle Letner of Ten Mile, Bob Letner of Kentucky, Arnold Letner of Ten Mile, Betty Thomas of Ten Mile, Ruth Letner of The Mile, Connie Letner of Athens, and Della Letner of Athens; his step mother, Treacy Jones of Ten Mile; his grandchildren, Laura Medina of Athens, Steven Letner of Tellico, Billy Pilkey of Athens, Danny Letner of Ten Mile and Paige Letner of Ten Mile; and his great grandchildren, Alanis, Benjamin, Georgia, Emily, Aubrey, Eli, Layla, and Chaztan.

The family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Bowers Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 7pm with Rev. Lawrence Waller officiating. Burial will be at 2pm Tuesday, March 12, 2019 in Roberts Cemetery, Ten Mile, TN. Pall bearers will be Billy Pilkey, Steven Letner, Danny Letner, Benjamin Burton and Brian Letner.
