James Larry Johns

James "Larry" Johns, 66, of Athens passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur only relocating to Athens a year ago. He was the son of the late James and Mildred Johns. As a child he attended Cottonport Church of God with his mother. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mildred Johns; his brothers, Daniel Roger Ledford and Raymond Gary Johns; and his son-in-law, Shane R. Ison.

Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Ison of Decatur; a son, David Johns of Decatur; the mother of his children, Carolyn Johns of Decatur; and four grandchildren, Josh Ison, Caleb Ison, Angelina Ison and Koebe Shaver.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm at Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur. The Funeral service will follow the visitation with Rev. Jim Cross officiating.
