James Ralph Gordon, Jr.

James Ralph Gordon, Jr. "Jimmy", 61, of Calhoun passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019. He was born in Chattanooga and has been a resident of Calhoun for the past seventeen years coming from Decatur. He enjoyed playing many musical instruments including the guitar, piano, banjo and mandolin. During his life he was in two bands, "Just Teasin" and "Shadow Road", and had been a backup musician for Nashville recording artists.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Florene Gordon; his grandparents, John and Minnie Perkinson; and several close cousins.
Survivors include his loving wife of 10 years, Debra Kirkland-Gordon of Calhoun; a son, James Andrew Gordon, "Drew" of Ten Mile; a daughter, Nicole Gordon (Liz) of Cleveland; and a half sister, Shelly Gordon of Ten Mile.
The family will receive friends from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Bowers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 10am at Bowers Funeral Home (due to flooding conditions at the church) in Decatur with Rev. Rodney Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant hill united Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
