James Dean Goforth

James Dean Goforth, age 80, of Decatur, passed away on Saturday, October November 2, 2024. He was a son of the late Haskel and Sallie Wilson Goforth. He was an United States Army Vietnam Veteran, a life member of Meigs Lodge #213 F.&A.M., and loved to work on cars and mow, and watching westerns. He is preceded in death by his sons: Jimmy and Hoyt Goforth; brother: Clyde Goforth; sisters: Betty Parris, Janice Monroe. He is survived by his children: Samantha Pliske, Christy Sherill, Michael Goforth, Larry Goforth; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other extended family, and a host of friends. A masonic service will be held at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services with a funeral service to follow with the Rev. James Staton officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Associations in memory of Dean. Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services is honored to serve the Goforth Family.
